Dierdre Walsh (Walsh)

Obituary for Dierdre J. Walsh

Dierdre Walsh of Upper Marlboro, MD, died on September 26th, 2020. She was 58 years old. Dierdre, a proud Maryland native, was born in Prince Frederick on June 11, 1962. She grew up in Bowie, MD, where she made cherished memories. She alternated her time between working at Prince George's County School System, for over 30 years, and raising her two children with the most love and support she could muster. Dierdre was a gift to everyone who knew her. Active in her community of Upper Marlboro, she valued volunteering and worshipping at Trinity Episcopal Church, enjoying nature, and taking part in her AMC group. She held a deep and abiding fascination of true-crime stories, Irish and Gaelic culture, and local history. She was filled with endless hopes, dreams, and plans for the future. Her love of adventure took her everywhere from escape rooms to Myrtle Beach to the Bahamian streets of Freeport. Family was everything to Dierdre. She acted in the role of caregiver to her dear father as he suffered from Alzheimer's. She will forever be remembered for being a selfless and generous soul who paid special attention to the needs of everyone around her. After a life well-lived, God called her home the afternoon of September 26th, 2020, at the young age of 58. She is survived by sisters Karen, Gail, Theresa, and Nancy, brothers David J., Robert, and David, and loving children Matthew and Siana -- as well as her two beloved cats, Misty and Cider. In lieu of flowers, family and friends who wish to make a memorial donation in Dee’s honor may do so to ‘The Arc, Prince George’s County’, an organization which has helped Dee’s son, Matthew, for some time. Contributions may be made electronically via https://www.thearcofpgc.org/ and https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/TheArc, or mailed to: Rob Malone, Executive Director, The Arc, The Arc Building, 1401 McCormick Drive, Largo, MD 20774. An online memorial service was held virtually by Trinity Episcopal Church, Upper Marlboro on October 3rd at 1:00 p.m. out of public health concerns in light of the COVID-19
